My two passions are travel and photography and these are of course easy to combine. Iran is a very photogenic country! Unfortunately, Iran has a serious image problem, because Iran is a truly unique and super beautiful country with an unprecedented hospitable population. What are the best photo spots in Iran?
What are the 10 most beautiful photo spots in Iran?
1. Nasir al Molk mosque, Shiraz
This Nasir Al Molk mosque has a wonderful secret that you do not see from the outside. Every morning, the rays of the sun shine through the numerous stained glass windows and transform the room into a magically colorful spectacle. Breathtakingly beautiful! In fact it is even more beautiful than on the pictures.
2. Aran Va Bid Gol mosque, Aran Va Bid Gol
This mosque is really so beautiful and unique. The colors and mosaics are amazing and not comparable to other mosques in Iran or anywhere else in the world. Aran Va Bid Gol is 15 km from Kashan and the mosque is central to this place and can not be missed.
3. The bazars
It does not matter in which city you are visiting a bazaar, they are all equally beautiful. To me, the bazaars symbolize the beauty of Iran. Here you will find the shops, the people, the colors and the scents and all of this in abundance.
4. The bridges, Esfahan
The bridges across the Zayandeh rud river are a major attraction of Esfahan. Si-o’s pole and the Pol-e Khaju are the best! A large part of the Iranians’ social life takes place around the bridges, especially in the evening. Take this experience! Most beautiful is when there is water in the river, so (in 2016) May/June.
5. Naqsh-e Jahan square, Esfahan
The huge Naqsh-e Jahan (design of the world) square surprises even the most traveled traveler. This central square is surrounded by the bazaar, the Ali Qapu palace and the beautiful mosques Lotfallah and Masjed-e Jameh. It is one of the most iconic places in Iran. It is the largest square in the world after the Square of Heavenly Peace in Beijing.
6. The Hammam-e Sultan Mir Ahmad, Kashan
Hamam-e Sultan Mir Ahmad is a beautiful example of an Iranian bathhouse built about 450 years ago. This bath house is really beautifully painted and decorated. Also, do not forget to view and photograph the roof tiles on the roof!
7. The people
The people in Iran are friendly and welcoming! It is therefore very easy to take pictures of Iranians. Do not forget to ask first so that they can pull the headscarf straight for example. Then they will be happy and comprehensive for you. Iranians are vain people!
8. Masjed-e Agha Bozorg, Kashan
Impressively large and usually also very quiet is what describes this mosque best. Especially incredible is the fact that at such a tourist highlight you can take pictures with no one in the picture. The location is also good between all the winding streets of ancient Kashan.
